I discovered meditation at a difficult time in my life, shortly after I was ordained as a Catholic priest. Or maybe I could say that meditation discovered me when I was lost on my walk of faith. I have been practicing Christian meditation since 2003. I had been ordained for two years and was struggling in my prayer life. I had starts and stops in prayer. I needed a path. At the right moment, I discovered a prayer practice and a community that showed me a way of discipleship that I needed. The World Community for Christian Meditation was the way of faith that I needed to make me a better minister, a better Christian and a better human being. I began the daily practice of meditation. The tradition’s essential teaching is to meditate using a mantra. The mantra that is suggested is Maranatha.
